District Three residents sought for council seats opening October
(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — The city is accepting applications from residents in Neighborhood Council District Three to fill five open seats on the district's executive board.
The positions carry partial terms running from October 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and live within District Three boundaries. The deadline to apply is August 14, 2026.
The City Council will appoint successful candidates to serve in an advisory capacity on development projects and community issues affecting their neighborhoods.
Neighborhood councils function as the direct link between residents and city leadership. The volunteer boards review development proposals, discuss public safety concerns, and provide input on city services. Each of the city's four districts maintains a 13-member executive board.
Board members serve two-year terms. The city recruits for roughly one-third of available seats every eight months under a staggered appointment system. This special recruitment for District Three fills vacancies outside the regular cycle.
The councils meet monthly at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall, located at 2929 Tapo Canyon Road. All meetings are open to the public. Agenda packets post online the Thursday before each scheduled meeting.
Every resident 18 or older automatically holds membership in their assigned neighborhood council based on home address. Active participation is voluntary but open to all members.
The councils give residents a formal process to raise questions, share concerns, and shape decisions on zoning, development, and municipal services. Input from the councils goes directly to the City Council and Planning Commission.
