Mayor to deliver annual address at Cultural Arts Center, covering public safety, infrastructure, and economic development
(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — Mayor Dee Dee Cavanaugh will deliver the 2026 State of the City Address on Wednesday, September 16, at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center. The event runs from 3 to 5 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 4 p.m.
This year's theme, Lights, Camera, Action…Spotlight on Simi Valley, focuses on the people, projects, and partnerships shaping the city's direction. The address will cover key accomplishments from the past year and outline major initiatives underway across public safety, infrastructure, economic development and community services.
Cavanaugh said the event offers a chance to show residents how public resources are being used. "A tremendous amount is happening throughout our City, some highly visible and some behind the scenes," she said in a statement. "Our focus remains on maintaining the quality of life our residents value while making thoughtful investments in Simi Valley's future."
The presentation will detail how the city is addressing community needs and what services residents use most. It will also look ahead at upcoming projects and opportunities.
The Cultural Arts Center is located at 3050 E. Los Angeles Avenue. Doors open at 3 p.m., with hors d'oeuvres served before the presentation. The event will be conducted as a Special Meeting of the Simi Valley City Council to comply with the Brown Act, which governs public meetings in California. The law requires certain transparency measures when a majority of council members are present.
Cavanaugh said the address will celebrate what the city has accomplished and highlight the work ahead. She plans to cover both completed projects and those still in progress, along with how the city is managing growth and change.
