Schatzi's Bakery Launches Women Makers Mini Market at Town Center
Local café creates new Sunday gathering space for female artisans to meet customers face-to-face
(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — Schatzi's Bakery & Café is organizing the first Women Makers Mini Market at Simi Valley Town Center, bringing together local female makers and small-business owners for a Sunday marketplace outside the café.
The event aims to move online sellers into physical retail space, even if they have never sold at an in-person market before. Organizers Chris and Nici from Schatzi's describe it as "Etsy brought to life" — a chance for women who typically sell through Instagram, home studios, or online platforms to set up tables and meet customers directly.
Ten vendor spots are available on a first-come basis. The $50 participation fee covers the mall rental cost. The market will run approximately 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on a Sunday yet to be announced.
According to the organizers, the market is designed for handmade jewelry, candles, soaps, pottery, artwork, accessories, home décor and similar crafts. Vendors will set up decorated tables in front of Schatzi's while keeping the main walkway clear for foot traffic and mall operations.
"One of the reasons we are creating this event is to encourage women who usually sell online or from home to experience what it feels like to present their business in person," the organizers said in their announcement on Facebook.
The event is intended to function as more than a vendor fair. Schatzi's is framing it as a Sunday family gathering where residents can browse the market, meet the makers and stop at the café for coffee or lunch.
The mini market will occupy space directly in front of Schatzi's at 1555 Simi Town Center Way. Organizers say the setup will be "intimate, colorful, welcoming and community-driven" while maintaining access for emergency vehicles and mall security.
This is the first time Schatzi's has organized a vendor event at the Town Center. The bakery and café, which also has a location in Sherman Oaks, is known for homemade banana pudding, pastries and espresso drinks.
Vendors must be female makers or represent women-owned businesses. Experience is not required. Registration is open now through a form linked in the announcement, and spots will be held once the vendor fee is received.
The organizers are asking residents to share the opportunity with local women who make products and might benefit from in-person sales experience. "This is our first time bringing other local small-business owners together around Schatzi's at the Town Center," they said.
The market represents a test of whether Town Center can support regular small-scale vendor events. If successful, it could become a recurring Sunday fixture.
