Reagan Library to Host America 250 Concert Featuring Symphonic Tribute to President's Speeches
(CLAIR | Simi Valley, CA) — The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute will host a patriotic concert on June 27 that sets some of the president's most influential speeches to music from his acting career.
New West Symphony will perform the evening concert, which concludes with a newly commissioned symphonic work pairing Reagan's words with music from films including "King's Row" and "This Is the Army." The piece also incorporates songs the president favored during his lifetime.
The concert is part of the foundation's America 250 programming marking the nation's 250th anniversary. Doors open at 6 p.m. for VIP ticket holders and 6:30 p.m. for general admission.
General admission costs $60 per person. VIP tickets are available for $150 and include two drink tickets and light appetizers. A cash bar will operate throughout the event.
The Lowell Milken Family Foundation is sponsoring the concert.
New West Symphony was founded in 1995 and draws musicians from the Los Angeles area. GRAMMY winner Michael Christie has served as music director since December 2018. The orchestra is the resident company at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center in Thousand Oaks and also performs at Rancho Campana Performing Arts Center in Camarillo.
The symphony presents six Masterpiece Series concerts each year featuring major works from the symphonic repertoire. Guest soloists include internationally recognized artists.
Beyond its concert season, New West Symphony runs educational programs for local communities. The orchestra's Symphonic Adventures series provides annual concerts for young audiences. Its Music Van travels to schools throughout the region. The Laby Harmony Project offers year-round music instruction and leadership development for underserved students.
The America 250 concert marks one of several events the Reagan Library is planning around the national anniversary. The combination of presidential oratory and Hollywood-era music reflects Reagan's dual legacy in entertainment and politics.
The June 27 performance offers audiences a chance to hear Reagan's speeches in a new format while experiencing live orchestral music at the presidential library. Tickets are available through the Reagan Foundation website while supplies last.
The Reagan Library sits in the hills north of Simi Valley and draws visitors from across the country. Special events like the America 250 concert bring the library's programming into the community while marking significant moments in American history.
