This year’s event invites families to reunite their plush police pups with the real dogs who inspire them — and help fund the next generation of K-9 heroes.

(CLAIR | Simi Valley) — Simi Valley’s most hands-on community event is getting a little more heart this year. When Touch-A-Truck 2025 rolls into City Hall on Sunday, December 14, the Simi Valley Police Foundation is asking visitors to do more than climb aboard fire engines and patrol cars — they’re inviting them to bring a friend…A furry one!

The Foundation is encouraging guests to bring their stuffed police dogs from previous years’ fundraisers to take part in a special photo at noon alongside the city’s real K-9 officers, the police chief, and members of the department. The photo will take place at 12:00 p.m. at the Police Foundation booth, creating what organizers call “a snapshot of Simi Valley history in motion.”
For those who don’t yet have one of the collectible plush dogs, new pups will be available for $20 each during the event. Every stuffed animal is named after an actual Simi Valley police dog, and all proceeds help fund the department’s K-9 program — supporting the purchase, training, and care of the city’s working dogs.
“These dogs protect our officers and our community,” said a Foundation spokesperson. “Every plush sold helps make sure our K-9 team stays strong.”

The event, as always, is free to attend, running from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the front parking lot of Simi Valley City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road. Instead of an admission fee, families are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for Operation Blue Christmas, supporting local children during the holidays.
Beyond the trucks and sirens, Touch-A-Truck is a celebration of civic spirit — a day that unites generations around gratitude, giving, and a little hometown fun.
And this year, when hundreds of plush pups line up beside their real-life counterparts, Simi Valley will be reminded once again: progress here isn’t just about growth — it’s about community, loyalty, and pride that stands shoulder-to-shoulder, paw-to-paw.
